SPAW Editor Fixes for Safari and CodeIgniter
I don’t know how many of you web developers use WYSIWYG editors in your coding. I personally use them quite often to allow customers to manage their online content. I have tried just about every one available both paid and free. So far my favorite is SPAW Editor. (Note I always use the SPAW lite theme because the default is too image intensive.) SPAW Editor is a great editor. It has tons of useful features like a tabbed interface, image and document management, valid XHTML markup, and much more. It also works with PHP or ASP.NET.
Anyway, to cut to the point, we have had a couple problems with SPAW Editor which Sheldon has now corrected. The first is that in Safari (Where it actually works good) it has a slight CSS display bug preventing the bar from breaking at the designed width. Sheldon created a simple fix for this Safari SPAW Editor bug here. The other problem with SPAW is that it uses a PHP class so developers using frameworks like CodeIgniter have problems implementing the system. Sheldon has created a fix for SPAW Editor V.2 in CodeIgniter here. I haven’t tested this fix in other frameworks but if you give it a try please report back.
