Obama’s Citizen’s Briefing Book – Fantastic Online Strategy
Obama’s campaign proved that he and his team had a much better understanding of the Internet and its power than any other candidate in this election or prior. Through the Internet Obama was able to disseminate important information and garner huge numbers of donations. Now that he is elected he is using the Internet in new and exciting ways.
On the website, http://change.force.com Obama is soliciting ideas from the American public. Anyone can submit ideas and other users vote on those. The top ideas will be provided to President Obama in a daily briefing book much like the one the president already receives daily. This new strategy allows the great ideas and important issues of American citizens to work their way directly to the president’s hands. It is also a great strategy because it works each idea through a social filter before they reach the hands of the president.
I have always thought to myself there should be some way for the average citizen to communicate their needs to government officials. Sure you could mail your senator, or call and complain but who knows if they’re even listening. Using an online tool like this American’s can band together and actually have their opinions heard. Whether you’re a democrat or republican you have to admit this is great strategy, especially if Obama and his administration are truly listening to the voice of the American people.
